A Wii U is an eighth-generation video game console, and it is a newer version of the Wii. It is made by Nintendo, and it came out in 2012.

Hardware and softwareEdit

The Wii U uses a new controller, known as the Wii U GamePad, which includes a second screen. This can allow for a GamePad user to get a different perspective on gameplay, or use the GamePad alone in Off-TV Play.

The Wii Remote with the Nunchuk and Classic Controller accessories are also backwards compatible with the Wii U, as well as the Wii U Pro Controller. Up to four Wii Remotes or Pro Controllers can be connected to the Wii U at once. When using these controllers in conjunction with the GamePad, five players can play at once. The GamePad user can use the GamePad to play a different role than the Wii Remote/Pro Controller users.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has other control choices. The Nintendo 3DS can be used as a controller if the player has Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo GameCube Controller can also be used if the player has the adapter. Finally, up to seven Wii Remotes and/or Pro Controllers can be connected for 8-Player Smash.
